Fay Encounters: Meeting the Other Crowd
Some people think that fairies are charming creatures with butterfly wings and unsurpassed beauty. But that would be a mistake. Some fairies have sharp teeth, tricksy ways and occasionally, evil intentions. Some call these creatures “The other crowd”, the fairy folk who aren’t always friendly.
Join storyteller Suzanne Whitby for a tale of Irish fairy folk and their European cousins, and explore hidden mounds, the betwixt and the in-between, the shadow lands, the Midsummer dream.
This is a live storytelling performance in English. Expect a high energy show and Suzanne’s signature combination of wild, wise, witty, and wonder-filled tales.

Practical details
Running time: Circa 100 minutes, plus interval.
Suitable for: Adults (16+)

Content warning:
Storytelling shows rely heavily on myths, legends, and traditional stories. Ancient tales weren’t all “sweetness and light”. This performance may contain descriptions of birth, death, sex, violence, and behaviours that are no longer acceptable, all contextualised within a paradigm of mythic narrative, archetype and metaphor.
What to expect
Not sure what to expect from a storytelling show? It’s a bit like theatre, a one-person show in which you tap into the theatre of your mind and are transported to far-off places and new worlds. No screens. No distractions. Just you, the stories, and of course, your favourite beverage to keep you hydrated on the journey.
